A Face in the Crowd

Oh, the time has come.

A light has dawned.

Do you see it on the horizon?

I remember it well,

though it’s been so long

since I let it out of my sight.

I must have took a wrong turn,

followed the crowd.

Followed, followed…

I’ve been a face in the crowd for too long.

Stuck in the shuffle, shufflin’ along,

and it’s worn my will ’til it nearly breaks,

but I ain’t broke.  Not yet.

-

I’ve been a face in the crowd for too long.

I’ve made a few friends, but I’m movin’ on

while my body is strong, and my heart is young

and I see light out in the distance.

It calls me now

to be more than just a face in the crowd.

-

If you come along,

it’s a long road ahead.

And I cannot stop if you stumble.

-

And if I should fall

keep movin’ on.

I won’t be too far behind.

There will be strength I will find

I won’t look back,

look back...

-

I’ve been a face in the crowd for too long.

Stuck in the shuffle, shufflin’ along.

And it’s worn my will ’til it nearly breaks,

but I ain’t broke.  Not yet.

-

I’ve been a face in the crowd for too long.

I’ve made a few friends, but I’m movin’ on

while my body is strong and my heart is young

and I see light out in the distance.

It calls me now

to be more than just a face in the crowd.
