Bless The Winds

I was born in this town,

played baseball in her streets,

war games in her neighborhoods,

I built houses in her trees.

                    –

But my childhood games are played

I’ve dreamt my childhood dreams

One more school year left to go

and I’ll be free to roam.

                   -

But the highway’s on the horizon

as far as I can see

So I asked the tarot lady

where the wind would carry me.

                   -

She had gypsy eyes,

mystical and wise

she turned her cards, and took my hand,

and then she said to me:

                    *

"Bless the winds that carry us into the unknown.

May experience make us wise,

and may our wisdom grow.

                -

And wherever you go

Be kind to a stranger

Wherever you go

May a stranger be kind to you

Wherever you go

Seek only truth.

                    -

And bless the winds that carry us into the unknown.

May experience make us wise,

and may our wisdom grow.

And oh, the places, oh, the places you’ll go. "
